What a Difference a Year Makes

Here we are and May 1st will be here in 2 days.  At this time last year all our vines were budding and we had all the vineyard completely pruned and tied down.  Last year the buds broke on April 20th according to my blog post.  You can see by the pictures that we are still 5-7 days away from that happening this year.  I wanted to post a picture of my hard working pruning crew.  We spent a very enjoyable weekend in the vineyard last weekend and should be able to finish most of our vines this weekend despite the fact that it is our first weekend of the Wine Tour.  

The final picture is one taken of the neat and orderly rows of vines after we have completed the pruning and tie-down.  In just a few weeks we will begin to see shoots and new leaves as the vines begin yet another's growing season.  All is good, just 3 weeks behind where we were last year.
